c. 1910s-1920s; W. A. Sheaffer Pen Co. - Fort Madison, IA

Oak-based display cabinet featuring a glass vitrine top with glazed front and side panels, steel and brass hardware, and a paneled storage compartment below. The upper display section is framed in oak with beveled glass panels secured by exposed fasteners, opening from the rear via a hinged access door with original latch hardware. The interior is lined in green felt, providing contrast and visibility for fountain pens or boxed writing instruments. The lower cabinet offers enclosed storage, set on gold-painted cast iron claw feet that lend a subtle classical note to an otherwise utilitarian retail fixture. Purpose-built and compact, this case reflects early 20th-century point-of-sale design-functional, durable, and meant to elevate everyday objects into aspirational goods.

Founded in 1913, the W. A. Sheaffer Pen Company became one of America's most influential writing instrument manufacturers, pioneering the lever-operated self-filling fountain pen and setting standards for reliability and mass-market elegance.

Shows honest retail wear throughout including surface scratches to the oak, light oxidation and patina to steel and brass hardware, scattered abrasions to the glass, and wear to the interior felt consistent with age and use; structurally solid with original hardware present.
