Designed to provide continuous airflow below deck while minimizing the entry of spray, examples like this were commonly fitted to yachts, launches, commercial vessels, and other marine craft during the early twentieth century. The ventilator retains an attractive, naturally aged copper and brass surface with prominent riveted construction and a broad rolled rim. The rolled rim is a separately applied component that rotates independently of the cowl rather than being formed from a single piece of copper.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nDisplays moderate age-related wear consistent with marine use. The copper exhibits scattered oxidation, most notably along the upper portion of the cowl and throughout the interior, with areas of green verdigris and a rich brown patina.
