This antique barrister bookcase was produced by The Macey Furniture Co. (1896-1940). It consists of five separate parts: four glass-encased units and a removable base. The modular design is actually what made this type of bookcase popular among lawyers. Not only would the glass panels protect expensive legal books from dust and grime, but the fact that the units could be separated made it easy for the books to be transported safely from one location to another.
Aside from some light wear (primarily scratches near the base/bottom of the piece), this bookcase is in excellent overall condition for its age. It has overall measurements of 61" high x 25" long x 12.5" deep.
