Carved antique mahogany Renaissance Revival library table with twin drawers and a full-length undertier shelf, similar to Victorian partners desks.

A richly worked frieze encircles the top with lunette carving at the edge over punch‑ground scrollwork and cabochon medallions. It rests on bold, melon‑turned baluster legs that terminate in block feet with incised motifs and clustered bun toes. The long apron conceals a pair of drawers; their pin‑and‑scallop Knapp joints help date the piece to the late 19th century, while the undertier shelf stiffens the frame and adds practical storage.

Founded in 1855, Berkey & Gay grew into a Grand Rapids powerhouse whose richly carved Renaissance and Jacobean revival furniture helped earn the city its "Furniture City" reputation into the early 20th century.

Lighter shades of red on top caused by years of use are pleasantly contrasted against darker tones throughout. Exhibits minor signs of wear including some finish loss and small scratches. Please refer to photos regarding condition.

PARCEL SHIPPING

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
