The articulated interior incorporates independently adjustable upper-body and leg elevator sections, slatted supports, and a central sliding chamber-pot drawer. Two side-mounted crank assemblies demonstrate the bed's mechanical adjustments, with coins dated 1854 and 1859 repurposed as decorative crank plates. The coin dates place the bed's construction after 1854. No chamber pot is present.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nBed is in good condition with expected wear from age and handling, including finish loss, scratches, abrasions, discoloration, and oxidation to the hardware. Mattress is stained and soiled from age, use, and storage. The upper-body and leg elevators can be positioned manually. Their hand-crank strapping is compromised: the foot-section strapping remains present, while the upper-body strapping is absent. The leg crank does not turn. Marks around the crank slots suggest that a screwdriver or similar tool was previously used to operate them.
