Its sculptural base consists of radiating steel-wire supports arranged in a dynamic hourglass formation and secured between the underside of the top and a textured black cast-iron foot. The contrasting geometric planes and spiraling wire framework give the table a distinctly architectural presence.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nNoguchi conceived the Cyclone design in 1953 as a rocking stool constructed from metal wire and wood. It entered production the following year in several sizes and was enlarged into a full-size table in 1957 at the suggestion of Hans Knoll. Founded by Hans Knoll in 1938, Knoll Associates became one of America's foremost producers of modern furniture through collaborations with influential architects and designers.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nGood condition with wear consistent with age and use. The table rocks slightly when placed on a flat surface. The metal base shows scattered wear and soiling from age and storage. The top exhibits numerous small surface scratches, while the chrome edge shows light wear.
