Bold lettering is arranged around a sweeping black banner, an oversized stylized "C," and scrolling Victorian ornament. The sign is presented against a deep red ground beneath glass in an ornate black frame with repeating foliate and scroll decoration. Comparable Nickel King trade signs have been documented as circa 1880-1900 cardboard advertising panels with sand or smaltz finishes, originally fitted with metal or chain hangers for display in cigar shops and general stores.

Decorative frame is in excellent condition. Glass has minor light scratches, and scattered debris from the sign is present on the inside of the glass.
