The fitted, leatherette-covered case opens to reveal separate demonstration and storage compartments. One side contains an integral electric light source, mounting clamp, curved reflector panel, instruction material, and Crookes radiometer, which appears to be a later replacement. The opposite compartment provides vertical storage for an assortment of labeled glass samples, including Frosted Aklo, patterned Aklo, Bluewhite, hammered, textured, and dark glass panels. During demonstrations, the selected samples could be positioned between the light source and radiometer to illustrate differences in transmitted radiant energy, glare, color, and opacity.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nBlue Ridge Glass Corporation was organized in Kingsport in 1925 and became known for rolled, patterned, wired, polished, and Aklo heat-absorbing architectural glass. The company later became part of American-Saint Gobain following a 1958 merger.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nCase is in good condition with expected wear from age and use, including scuffs, abrasions, edge wear, and one corner where the exterior covering is peeling. Gold company printing remains clear, and both latches are present and operational. Leather carrying handle is torn through the center. Five glass demonstration panels have chips or cracks, as shown. The clamp in the demonstration compartment fits the replacement radiometer loosely. Glass samples fit into the vertical storage area, and the light source is integral to the compartment. Light was tested and works.
