c. 1910s - 1920s; mfd by Etching Company of America for Eliel and Loeb Co. - Chicago

Antique advertising clamp for Eliel & Loeb, a major Chicago-based insurance firm.

The name Loeb likely rings a bell for Chicago history fans and true crime fans alike; Jacob Loeb was the uncle of Richard Loeb who, with Nathan Leopold Jr., kidnapped and killed another member of the Loeb family, Bobby Franks. Jacob Loeb was not only present for the duration of the trial, but also served as the family's public representative. This item was a promotional piece given out during the same time period as the trial.

Despite some moderate rusting across the face of this piece, the lettering on this piece of Chicago history is still legible and the hinges still operate within the clamp.
