c. 1910s-1920s; Brush-McCoy Pottery Co. - Zanesville, OH

A matched majolica pedestal and planter in Brush McCoy's coveted "Green Onyx" glaze, characterized by its variegated striations of emerald, olive, and jade flowing through a high-gloss finish. The pedestal rises on a tiered base with fluted column detailing, Greek key banding, and lion-head ring handles-classic Brush McCoy ornamental motifs. The planter echoes the same language with a broad rolled rim, repeating Greek key frieze, and lion-head rings, all rendered with sharp molding that highlights the fluid depth of the Green Onyx glaze.

The Brush-McCoy Pottery Company was a leading early-20th-century Ohio art pottery producer, known for inventive glazes and popular household wares that blended utility and decorative appeal. Brush McCoy majolica from this period was produced with substantial weight and crisp definition, making these pedestal/planter combinations especially desirable for interiors, sunrooms, and conservatory-style settings.

Both pieces are in excellent condition. The planter shows light soil residue from previous use; no cracks, chips, or repairs noted.
