c. 1890s-1910s; Roller Organ Co. - Grand Rapids, Michigan

Concert roller organ with original hand-crank mechanism, accompanied by a wooden shipping crate stenciled "Concert Roller Organ" and a large assortment of interchangeable pinned music rolls. The oak cased organ features an inlaid front panel with starburst motif and glass window revealing the internal reed action. Operated by turning the side crank, the organ plays melodies encoded onto the perforated wooden rolls, which mount on a horizontal spindle and trigger notes as they rotate.

These organs were produced by the Roller Organ Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and sold widely through mail-order catalogs such as Sears, Roebuck & Co. from the late 19th through early 20th century. They provided affordable parlor entertainment before the phonograph became dominant. The included lot of rolls, with red-painted ends, reflects the wide repertoire once marketed for home use.

Tested, works as intended with included rolls. Finish shows wear consistent with age, including surface scratches, edge losses, and minor veneer lifting. Rolls display handling wear, and the crate bears stains and markings from long storage.

PARCEL SHIPPING

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
