c. 1840s-1860s; Seth Thomas Clock Company - Plymouth Hollow, CT

Empire-style column clock with reverse-painted floral tablet and stenciled gilt columns.

This striking mid-19th century shelf clock blends neoclassical lines with decorative folk charm. The painted wood case is finished in a faux mahogany grain, flanked by stenciled columns with gold and mustard swirls and turned gilt capitals. Its upper tablet features a crisp strawberry motif surrounded by floral sprays, while the lower door bears a reverse-painted patriotic emblem flanked by spears and a ribbon banner reading "SARATOGA." The Roman numeral dial and mechanical movement are visible behind the upper glass panel. Not tested, sold as is. Minor losses to the top molding and base do not detract from the presence or historical interest of this early American timepiece.

Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
