Cast iron cutaway sewing machine model produced as a teaching or sales demonstration piece, designed to expose the internal mechanics normally concealed within a standard machine body. Finished in deep blue enamel with contrasting red interior surfaces, the machine features a partially sectioned base and arm, revealing the linkage, drive rods, and motion transfer beneath the table and head. The handwheel, needle bar, and presser components remain intact, allowing the machine's operation to be visually traced from input to stitch mechanism.

Cutaway models like this were commonly used by manufacturers, vocational schools, and traveling salesmen to explain sewing machine mechanics, maintenance, and operation. Rather than serving as a functional household machine, the emphasis here is on clarity of design-form followed function-making the internal choreography of parts immediately legible. The sculpted base and decorative casting details reflect the same aesthetic language found in full-size machines of the period.

Shows expected wear throughout, including surface scuffs, paint loss, and handling marks consistent with instructional use. Cutaway edges are clean and intentional. Mechanisms move smoothly by hand, and the piece presents well as a display or study object.

PARCEL SHIPPING

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please reach out to us for a free shipping quote on items you are interested in purchasing and note that international shipments may incur additional shipping cost.

FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
