Intricate tabletop loom demonstrator featuring a hand-cranked perforated pattern drum, exposed gearing, pulley-driven motion, and a compact weaving frame with remnants of textile still in place. The large circular punch-card wheel drives a sequence of mechanical actions through a network of rods, linkages, and gears, illustrating the early automation principles behind patterned textile production. Painted green structural elements contrast with oxidized iron components, while the wooden shuttle and woven sample add a tactile sense of its intended function. Mounted to a shaped wooden base, the piece reads as both instructional apparatus and sculptural artifact-an elegant distillation of early programmable machinery where form followed function in the most literal sense.

Jacquard mechanisms, introduced in the early 1800s, revolutionized weaving by using punched cards to control complex patterns-an innovation that directly influenced early computing concepts.

Shows heavy age and use throughout including oxidation to metal components, surface wear and loss to original paint, and areas of corrosion. Several elements appear detached or loosely mounted, and while portions of the mechanism move, the piece is only semi-operational and would require restoration for full functionality.
