This bench originates from the late 1800s and is of Mennonite immigrant origin from around the US/Canada border. This bench would have served as not only a place to sit but also as a place for one to lay and sleep. The seat of the bench folds up and reveals an expanding compartment underneath where a feather mattress would have been set in.

This bench has some wear appropriate for the significant age. Please take a close look at each of the photos before purchase. This bench has dimensions measuring 72"W x 21"D x 33"H. The interior measures 67"W x 18"D x 7"H, and this expands to 36" in depth when fully extended.
