Antique tufted leather armchair with matching tufted ottoman. The wing-back style of chair was created in the 1600s as a way protect the occupant from drafts in the home and as a means to trap heat given off by a fireplace. Despite being in use for decades, they didn't achieve popularity until the 1720s and the standard look has remain relatively unchanged ever since.

Both of these items feature brass nailhead trim and solid walnut saber legs accentuated by pad feet. The dark red leather gives way to lighter faded red in the more "high traffic" areas. It should also be noted that this item also exhibits some scratches and small splits in those same areas.
