Reverse-painted glass (ROG) advertising sign reading "Apartment To Let", executed with gilt lettering applied to the reverse and protected beneath the glass surface. The gold paint presents with a warm, slightly muted tone against a black ground, giving the sign strong visual contrast while retaining a restrained, utilitarian character. Metal end tabs with mounting holes remain intact, suggesting original use on a door, hallway wall, or exterior entry where rental notices were commonly displayed.

Reverse-glass signage of this type was widely produced in Britain and parts of Europe during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, serving landlords, boarding houses, and small apartment buildings; the "to let" wording firmly places this sign in the UK. While the maker is unmarked, the typography, construction, and materials align closely with Edwardian-era commercial signage intended for repeated seasonal or vacancy use rather than permanent installation.

Shows surface wear consistent with age, including scattered paint loss to the gilt backing, edge wear to the glass, and oxidation to the metal end mounts. Lettering remains legible and visually strong, with wear contributing to an authentic, time-earned patina.

FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
