c. 1890s - 1910s; manufactured by Chas. W. Shonk Co. for Joseph Banigan Rubber Co. - Providence, RI

Antique advertising sign for Bangian's Rubbers. If one were to remove their mind from the gutter, research would show that "rubbers" was a term used primarily along the East Coast during the late 19th and early 20th centuries that referred to a heavy pair of rubber boots that, when paired with thick wool socks, was colloquially known as "arctics". These were essential to every farmer and outdoorsman at the time.

This sign advertises the whole of Bangian's successful rubber empire, with the iconic Bangian lion standing proudly.

Exhibits moderate signs of wear including rust.
