1928 Snap-On Blue Point Catalog EW with Indestro Patent Exhibit
c. 1928; Snap-On Tools Corporation - Chicago, IL
Original "Catalog EW" issued January 2nd, 1928 under the Blue Point line, showcasing an early and highly influential range of automotive hand tools marketed to professional mechanics. The booklet features illustrated spreads of open-end wrench sets, right angle wrenches, screwdrivers, gear pullers, bearing scrapers, and specialty service tools, all presented with period typography and clean, utilitarian layouts. The catalog reflects Snap-On's early distribution model through Motor Tool Specialty Co., emphasizing durability, chrome vanadium steel construction, and practical shop application.
Included with the catalog is a mounted United States Patent Office exhibit sheet referencing the case of Indestro Mfg. Co. vs. Snap-On Tools Corporation (Opposition No. 17,614), stamped and notarized. This supplemental document ties directly to a significant and often overlooked legal dispute in early tool manufacturing, adding a layer of industrial and legal history that elevates the piece beyond standard ephemera. The combination of catalog and official exhibit material presents a rare surviving example of early competitive tensions within the American tool industry.
Shows moderate age-related wear including toning to the cover, edge wear, and light creasing. Interior pages remain intact and legible. Patent exhibit sheet shows expected aging and handling wear.
