c. 1945; DeKalb Agricultural Association, Inc. - DeKalb, Illinois, USA

Shield-form award plaque featuring a metal face mounted to a shaped wooden backing, issued for the DeKalb National Corn Growing Contest. The surface is engraved with stylized script reading "DEKALB National Corn Growing Contest," with a central banner naming the recipient, Dick Godwin, as champion from Dallas County and noting an official yield of 108.68 bushels per acre. The DeKalb Hybrids emblem-depicting a winged ear of corn-appears at the top, adding a strong graphic focal point tied to the brand's agricultural identity.

The plaque's construction combines a darkened metal plate with incised lettering and a warm-toned wood surround, giving it a formal presentation typical of mid-century agricultural awards. Wear to the surface has softened some of the engraved text, but the overall layout and iconography remain legible. Pieces like this reflect the importance of hybrid seed promotion and yield competitions during the early expansion of modern farming practices in the United States.

Shows surface scratches, oxidation, and wear to the metal face, with finish loss and edge wear to the wooden backing; engraving remains partially legible with some areas softened from age.
