Cast iron figural shooting target in the form of a crow, designed as a reactive target for small-caliber firearms. The silhouette features a boldly cut profile with an articulated central strike plate and hinged mechanism that allows the figure to tip or fold when hit, then reset for repeated use. The surface retains heavily worn black paint with exposed iron and oxidation throughout, visually mapping years of impact and use. Mounted on its original integral base, the piece balances graphic folk form with utilitarian construction.

Crow targets were popular novelty forms in early American shooting sports, often used for backyard practice, fairs, or informal marksmanship competitions. Their animated response to a successful hit added both feedback and entertainment, while the durable cast iron construction ensured long service life. Surviving examples with intact mechanisms and honest wear are increasingly scarce, prized for their sculptural presence and direct connection to early recreational shooting culture.

Shows significant paint loss, surface rust, and expected impact marks consistent with active use. Mechanism remains functional, folding up and down as intended.
