Countertop display case constructed with a painted steel frame enclosing clear glass panels and a hinged flat glass top. The case features distinctive curved front corners formed by bent glass panels, rectangular side and rear glazing, and a green felt-lined interior base intended for displaying jewelry, pocket watches, small merchandise, or other retail goods. The compact form and lift-top design made cases such as this a common fixture in general stores, jewelers, tobacconists, and apothecaries during the late Victorian and early 20th-century periods, allowing merchandise to remain visible while protected from handling and dust.

Glass and metal countertop display cases became a staple of American retail interiors around the turn of the 20th century as merchants increasingly showcased small, high-value goods in secure yet highly visible display fixtures.

Shows moderate to heavy age-related wear including oxidation, finish loss, scratches, and surface corrosion to the metal frame. Glass panels exhibit scattered scratches and light soiling consistent with age and use. One side panel has a crack extending from top to bottom, while one curved end panel has adhesive tape securing the frame to the glass. The flat rear glass panel also has a small diagonal crack, as shown in the photographs. The hinged lid is loose but operates properly. Interior green felt exhibits light wear and fading. Overall structurally sound and displays well.
