c. 1910s/1920s; McGill-Warner Co. - St. Paul, MN

Monumental oak filing cabinet constructed for high-volume document storage and record management in a governmental or institutional setting. The cabinet features an impressive bank of 150 uniformly sized document drawers arranged in vertical columns, each retaining its original brass nameplate pull. Three oversized storage compartments span the lower section, providing space for ledgers, oversized records, and administrative materials. A molded upper cornice, paneled sides, and carefully matched oak grain elevate the piece beyond purely utilitarian office furniture, reflecting the quality expected of early twentieth-century courthouse and municipal furnishings.

Retaining a handwritten manufacturer's tag on the reverse, the cabinet was produced for the Auditor of Chisago County in Center City, Minnesota, providing direct provenance to its original governmental use. McGill-Warner Co. specialized in filing systems, office furnishings, and record-keeping equipment during a period when expanding county and municipal governments required increasingly sophisticated methods of document organization and storage.

Shows moderate wear consistent with long-term institutional use including scattered scratches, finish wear, minor surface abrasions, and age-related patina throughout. Drawer interiors remain clean overall, brass hardware shows expected wear, and the cabinet retains its original identification tag on the reverse. Presents well and remains highly functional.
Exhibits minor signs of wear including small scuffs/scratches.
