Embossed pictorial advertising panel produced for J. H. Long Monument Works, featuring a richly detailed pastoral scene rendered in raised relief. The composition shows children at play in a landscaped setting with classical architectural elements in the background, framed by an ornamental border and original dark-painted wood frame with gilt inner liner. The imagery-sentimental, idealized, and carefully modeled-reflects late 19th-century tastes, where memorial firms often paired themes of innocence, nature, and domestic calm with their funerary trade. The firm's name and location are printed prominently at upper right: "MONUMENTS / J. H. LONG / Algona, Iowa."

James H. Long operated a monument and stoneworks business in Algona, Iowa in the late 19th century, producing gravestones and funerary monuments for the surrounding region. Advertising pieces like this were intended for display in offices or showrooms, projecting craftsmanship, permanence, and respectability-core values of the memorial trade during the period.

If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
