Blue-painted pine blanket chest raised on integral square legs with molded base and cornice, retaining its original lift-off lid construction. The interior features a full-length divider creating two storage compartments, a practical arrangement often used for separating household textiles, clothing, or personal belongings. The hand-applied blue painted finish has mellowed with age, contrasting with the warm natural pine interior. Lift-off blanket chests of this type were common in rural American homes, serving as multifunctional storage pieces for linens, quilts, seasonal garments, and family heirlooms.

Displays expected age-related wear including scattered scratches, surface abrasions, paint wear, and craquelure throughout. The painted finish exhibits areas of natural fading and handling wear consistent with age, while the interior shows typical signs of use and oxidation to the wood. No significant cracks or structural damage observed. The lift-off lid removes and seats properly and may be left open while the chest is empty without tipping. Overall presents as a solid and stable example with an attractive aged surface.

PARCEL SHIPPING

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
