Miniature salesman sample of a folding lawn swing featuring a painted cast metal frame with wooden slat seats and foot platform. The articulated frame closely follows the design outlined in D.C. Coble's U.S. Patent No. 697,133, issued April 8, 1902, which refined his earlier glider design by incorporating a collapsible folding frame for easier transport and storage while retaining the smooth reciprocating gliding action. The sample faithfully reproduces the patented mechanism with its opposing slatted seats, A-frame supports, pivoting linkage system, and central foot platform. The frame also folds as designed, demonstrating the patent's space-saving feature and making it an effective salesman demonstration model for furniture dealers.

David C. Coble's patented folding lawn swing helped popularize the American porch glider during the early 20th century, combining comfortable gliding motion with a practical collapsible design that influenced generations of outdoor furniture manufacturers.

Shows moderate age-related wear consistent with age and handling. Painted metal frame exhibits scattered finish wear, scratches, oxidation, and light surface corrosion. Wooden slats display finish wear, surface scratches, scattered discoloration, and age-related patina. Patent markings remain legible on the foot platform. The glider mechanism remains intact and operates smoothly, and the frame folds as designed. Overall presents well with strong display appeal.
