Antique Red Cross Litho Poster

Early 20th century Red Cross enlistment poster. This was part of a line of posters released during World War I that advertised to women who wanted to take on a more active role during wartime. At a time when women were still not allowed to enlist in the Armed Forces, this was the most beneficial service one could provide. the poster depicts a nurse sheltering a young girl from the horrors of war, namely the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.
This piece is an original wartime printing and, as such, exhibits signs of wear consistent with age in addition to two tears on the upper portion of the poster.
