Titled Black Yellow Warbler (Plate CXII), this print depicts two brilliantly detailed warblers perched among raspberry blossoms. Hand-coloring brings out the lifelike plumage and botanical setting with remarkable vibrancy.
John James Audubon, a French-American naturalist and painter, is celebrated as one of the greatest ornithological artists. His life's work, The Birds of America, remains one of the most ambitious and influential publications in the history of natural science.
