Group of six miniature tintype portrait photographs housed in ornate pressed brass gilt frames, each depicting individual sitters in period attire. The portraits include both male and female subjects, with visible details such as formal dresses, a seated figure with hand-tinted cheeks, and a standing male posed beside a decorative studio prop. One example remains housed in a hinged case with velvet lining, while the others are loose in decorative mat frames with embossed floral and geometric borders. The images exhibit the soft tonal range and directness characteristic of tintype photography, a process widely used during the Civil War era due to its affordability and durability. Surface reflections, minor spotting, and age toning contribute to the authentic, time-worn presentation, with several plates showing craquelure or emulsion wear.

Tintypes (also known as ferrotypes) were a popular mid-19th century photographic format made by creating a direct positive image on a thin sheet of iron coated with a dark lacquer. Introduced in the 1850s, the process allowed for quick, inexpensive portrait production and became especially widespread during the American Civil War, when soldiers and families sought portable likenesses.

Shows moderate to heavy wear throughout including surface scratching, emulsion loss, spotting, and oxidation to the metal plates. Frames exhibit patina, minor bending, and edge wear; one example remains in a worn hinged case with fabric interior.
