Single-sided porcelain enamel (SSP) storefront sign promoting Columbia Hartford and Vedette Bicycles. The design features the distinctive Columbia script above "Hartford" and "Vedette Bicycles" in contrasting block lettering against a white porcelain field with decorative corner embellishments. The manufacturer's mark for The Baltimore Enamel & Novelty Co. is visible in the lower right corner. Intended for installation on the exterior of bicycle dealerships and sporting goods stores, the sign's durable porcelain enamel construction was designed to withstand long-term outdoor exposure while providing bold, highly visible advertising.

The Westfield Manufacturing Company was among America's leading bicycle manufacturers during the cycling boom of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with its Columbia brand representing the firm's flagship line. Vedette served as a secondary marque marketed alongside Columbia, allowing the company to reach multiple segments of the rapidly expanding bicycle market.

Displays heavy age-related wear consistent with prolonged outdoor exposure. The porcelain enamel exhibits scattered scratches, surface grime, staining, numerous chips, and substantial areas of porcelain loss exposing the underlying steel, particularly along the edges, corners, and mounting holes. Several areas display heavy oxidation and rust where the enamel has been lost, including a large impact area within the Columbia script. The reverse is heavily oxidized throughout. Despite the extensive wear, the graphics remain legible and retain strong display appeal.

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
