c. 1900s-1910s; mfd. by The Elwood Myers Co. for Bell Bros. Co. - Chester, MA

Tin-over-cardboard (TOC) advertising sign promoting Dandro Solvent, a hair tonic marketed for the treatment of dandruff and the beautification of hair. The striking Art Nouveau-influenced design features a hand holding an embossed bottle of Dandro Solvent against a black ground with bold orange lettering and the slogan, "You, too, can have beautiful hair. Insist on Dandro Solvent for dandruff and beautifying the hair." The sign retains its original factory-mounted embossed tin face over a cardboard back manufactured by The Elwood Mfg. Co. of Springfield, Ohio, complete with its original fold-out easel, hanging cord, and printed care instructions, illustrating its intended use as a countertop or wall-mounted point-of-sale display in barber shops, pharmacies, and general stores.

Displays moderate age-related wear including scuffs, scratches, edge wear, light spotting, and several areas of paint loss exposing the underlying metal. The upper left beveled edge has been crushed, resulting in localized oxidation. The original cardboard backing remains present with its fabric hanger and easel, which appears to have seen little to no use. The backing exhibits light warping, scattered tears including a small tear at one hanger attachment point, handling wear, and retains its original ink-stamped maker's information and sign care instructions. Areas of damage on the reverse generally correspond to the wear visible on the front. Overall presents well with strong color and attractive display quality.
