Folding wooden luggage rack constructed from turned hardwood rails and crossbars, designed to open into a compact stand for supporting suitcases, trunks, or travel bags. The crossed-leg frame is stabilized by cylindrical stretchers with capped ends, while metal collars reinforce key pivot points, allowing the rack to collapse flat for storage. Its clean, symmetrical geometry reflects the practical needs of early travel and hospitality interiors, where portability and durability outweighed decorative excess. The warm brown finish shows age-softened sheen and handling wear, reinforcing its role as a functional travel accessory rather than decorative furniture.

Luggage racks of this type became standard fixtures in hotels, boarding houses, and private homes during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, coinciding with the rise of rail and steamship travel. Typically produced by furniture or hotel-supply manufacturers and often left unmarked, they were valued for their simplicity, strength, and ease of storage.

Shows surface wear throughout including scuffs, scratches, and finish loss consistent with age and use; joints function as intended and the rack opens and folds smoothly.
