c. 1910s; sign by Shank Sign Co. for Joseph S. Finch & Co. - Pittsburgh, PA

Cardboard-backed tin lithograph advertising sign for Golden Wedding Whiskey, depicting two well-dressed gentlemen seated beside a glowing fireplace and raising glasses in a celebratory toast. A prominently displayed Golden Wedding bottle rests between the figures against the predominantly black interior scene. The upper edge reads "GOLDEN WEDDING," while the lower slogan declares, "Has had no peers - For fifty years."

The painted bottle incorporates a Droste effect: its label contains a miniature image of the two seated gentlemen and the advertised bottle, repeating the principal composition within itself. The sign is finished with shallow beveled borders and bears the small maker's mark "SHANK SIGN CO. NEW YORK" near the lower-left corner.

Joseph S. Finch established his Pittsburgh-area distilling business during the mid-19th century, with Golden Wedding Whiskey reportedly in use as a brand by 1869. It became one of the company's best-known Pennsylvania whiskey labels.

In good condition. The principal text and illustrated figures remain clear and legible. An area of concentrated scratching on the left side has resulted in pigment loss, accompanied by additional scattered scratches and abrasions across the surface. Edge wear and pigment loss are present along the corners of the beveled border and across the bottom edge. The cardboard reverse exhibits water damage at the lower-left corner, together with general wear, staining, and soiling. Retains its hanging hardware.
