Color lithographed tin advertising sign promoting Masury's Pure Colors, depicting the manufacture of oil-based paints from pigment grinding through mechanical canning. The composition features a young spokesman presenting Masury's products beneath the slogan "The Acknowledged Standard," while a factory worker grinds pigments by hand at left and automated production equipment packages finished paint at right. Numerous labeled pigment sacks, stacks of paint cans, and a detailed rendering of the company's machinery illustrate the transition from traditional craftsmanship to industrial production. Printed with "New York - Chicago" along the lower edge and manufactured by Sentenne & Green, the sign is an excellent example of early twentieth-century trade advertising for one of America's leading paint manufacturers.

Founded in Brooklyn in 1835, John W. Masury & Son became one of the nation's foremost paint manufacturers, pioneering ready-mixed paints and heavily promoting the quality and consistency of its linseed oil-based pigments through richly illustrated advertising. Sentenne & Green of New York was among the premier lithographic firms producing colorful tin advertising signs for American manufacturers during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Displays moderate age-related wear including light oxidation to both sides, scattered scratches, surface grime, and minor paint loss. Three corners are bent into sharp angles, and a small puncture hole is present slightly left of center. The lower edge exhibits gentle rolling bends and light creasing, while the thin tin retains some flexibility. The reverse retains remnants of its original black finish with scattered losses, including one larger area consistent with moisture or liquid exposure. Despite these condition issues, the colors remain vibrant and the graphics retain outstanding visual appeal.

If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
