c. 1900s-1920s

Ornate freestanding bijouterie table or vitrine display case crafted in dark-stained wood. The square glazed compartment features transparent side panels and a hinged glass top, providing a clear view of jewelry, curios, specimens, or other small collectibles. Carved foliate decoration with contrasting silver-toned highlights surrounds the top, complemented by reeded legs, pierced corner brackets, and scrolling openwork stretchers. The stretchers converge on a raised circular platform beneath the case, adding an architectural focal point to the lightweight, delicate frame. A removable orange felt liner is included but is not attached to the interior.

Bijouterie tables became especially popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as specialized furniture for displaying jewelry and small decorative objects beneath glass. Period examples commonly combined hinged glazed tops and sides with slender supports and ornamental stretchers.

The case is very stable and lightweight. The hinged top opens easily, and the glass panels appear intact. One crack is present at the lower stretcher/base connection, as photographed, but it does not affect stability. Additional age-related wear includes scattered scratches, small abrasions, finish loss, dust, and minor surface marks. The orange felt is loose and shows wrinkles, fraying, and light soiling.
