Antique illustrated bible that once belonged to the Ellwood family of Dekalb, IL. The Ellwoods are one of Dekalb's Founding Families as the patriarch Issac, along with Joseph Glidden and Jacob Haish, invented what is now known as the first true barbed wire. In addition to this, Ellwood was also instrumental in Dekalb becoming the home of Northern Illinois University.
This piece features pages for birth, death, and wedding records in addition to the original marriage certificate and 1944 obituary for Alice Ellwood, daughter of Hiram and Sarah Ellwood, whose photos are also featured within this book's pages.
This piece exhibits some wear along the spine and the Bible title page has come loose, but overall it is in very good condition given its age.
