Dramatic handcrafted throne-form chair constructed almost entirely from mounted bovine horns and upholstered hide. The sculptural frame utilizes large curved horns as legs, arms, crest rail, and back supports, creating an imposing silhouette that emphasizes the natural form and coloration of the horn material. The seat, arms, and crest are wrapped in animal hide secured with decorative tacks, while the arrangement of horns creates an openwork structure that is both functional and highly decorative. Variations in color ranging from cream and tan to dark brown and black further accentuate the organic construction.

Examples of this type are commonly associated with East African and southern African decorative furniture traditions, where cattle hold significant cultural and economic importance. Based on the shape, size, and coloration visible in the photographs, the horns appear to be from domestic cattle rather than from a protected wild species. They most closely resemble longhorn, Ankole-Watusi, or related cattle breeds whose large horns have long been used in decorative furnishings and export handicrafts.

Seat hide shows significant age-related wear including a large crack through the center exposing cushion material beneath, scattered losses, abrasions, thinning, and edge wear throughout. Additional wear, separation, and losses are present to the hide wrapping on the seat rails, arms, and crest rail. Horn surfaces show scattered scratches, surface wear, and natural imperfections consistent with age and use. Structurally appears complete and displays well.

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
