1931/1932; Robinson Airfoil Fuselage Corporation - New York City, NY

Carved wooden aerodynamic aircraft model produced by the Robinson Airfoil Fuselage Corporation as a patent piece during the early years of aviation development. The streamlined monoplane features an integrated airfoil fuselage design intended to increase lift while reducing drag, with carved cockpit details, fixed tail surfaces, engine mounting points, and metal attachment loops for suspension or testing. Included with the model is a group of original period materials consisting of two silver gelatin photographs depicting the same aircraft model and an original January 25, 1932, typed letter on Roxy Theatres Corporation letterhead signed by Clark Robinson, who was serving as the Roxy Theatre's art director at the time.
Addressed to Charles J. Carlotti, the letter discusses Robinson's repurchase of corporate stock, progress on his aviation patents, repayment of company debts, and plans to begin work on a larger aircraft. The reverse of the mounting board bears "Property of Charles J. Carlotti" stamps, linking the documentation to its original recipient. More photos available by request.

The Robinson Airfoil Fuselage Corporation was an early New York aviation venture founded to develop aircraft utilizing an airfoil-shaped fuselage intended to improve aerodynamic efficiency. Although the company never achieved commercial production, surviving prototypes and documentation illustrate the experimental spirit that characterized aviation innovation during the interwar period.

The aircraft model presents well with a rich, dark finish and light age-related wear including scattered surface scratches, minor finish wear, and small abrasions consistent with handling. The nose retains several engine mounting studs, though no engine or propeller assembly is present. Metal hardware exhibits expected oxidation. The accompanying letter remains legible with fold lines, light toning, and handling wear. The mounted photographs exhibit minor edge wear, light curling, and scattered surface marks. The presentation board shows corner losses, edge wear, creasing, and age-related discoloration. Overall, the collection remains an exceptionally scarce grouping documenting an obscure early aviation project.

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
