c. 1940s-1950s; Becton, Dickinson & Co. - Rutherford, NJ

Leatherette-covered salesman sample case displaying a representative assortment of Becton, Dickinson medical thermometers and related accessories. The hinged presentation case features a fitted velvet-lined interior holding fifteen glass clinical thermometers in various scales and configurations, along with an assortment of protective storage tubes and pocket carriers, including examples fitted with clips for carrying in a physician's coat pocket. The exterior is gilt-stamped "THERMOMETERS," identifying the contents as a traveling sales display intended for demonstrating BD's product line to physicians, hospitals, and medical supply distributors.

Founded in 1897 by Maxwell Becton and Fairleigh Dickinson, Becton, Dickinson & Co. became one of America's leading medical instrument manufacturers, producing clinical thermometers, syringes, needles, and later pioneering the Vacutainer blood collection system introduced in 1949.

Set appears to retain fifteen glass thermometers along with a variety of original protective cases and carriers. The leatherette-covered case displays light age-related wear including minor scuffs, edge wear, and light handling marks. Interior velvet lining remains clean with light dust accumulation and expected impressions from long-term storage. Glass thermometers appear free of obvious damage upon visual inspection, though the set has not been tested for accuracy or completeness and is believed to be complete.
