c. 1930s-1940s; Bulova Watch Company - New York, NY

Portable traveling salesman sample display featuring a Bulova electrically operated wall clock housed within its original demonstration carrying case. The display includes a wood-framed clock with a silvered dial, red sweep seconds hand, and "Electrically Controlled Time" header, accompanied by a hinged rose-colored velvet promotional panel reading, "This clock in your window makes your store headquarters for Observatory Time - Absolutely Accurate." Salesman samples such as this were used by Bulova representatives to demonstrate their electrically synchronized commercial clocks to jewelers, retailers, and storefront businesses. The carrying case provided safe transport while doubling as a compact presentation display during sales calls. More photos available by request.

Founded in 1875, the Bulova Watch Company became one of America's leading watch and clock manufacturers, pioneering electrically synchronized commercial timekeeping systems and becoming widely recognized for its innovations in precision timekeeping and advertising.

Tested and not currently operating; will require repair. Retains the original cloth-covered electrical cord, which exhibits fraying. The front bezel opens properly, though the latch no longer secures it in the closed position. Evidence suggests the clock originally retained a glass crystal, which is no longer present. The rose-colored velvet lining on the inside of the carrying case lid has detached. The metal "Electrically Controlled Time" header exhibits surface scratches. Wooden clock case displays scattered scratches, nicks, finish wear, and a few small edge chips consistent with age and use. Carrying case exhibits scattered scuffs, scratches, and wear to the exterior covering. The center clasp incorporates a lock that is stiff but still functions; key is not included. Original leather carrying handle exhibits age-related cracking and wear but remains intact and should be handled with care.
