Heavy-duty collapsible wooden shipping crate branded "Bandox," constructed with reinforced slat sides, integrated corner framing, and distinctive red tension bands designed to secure the container during transport. The crate retains stenciled shipping and routing information throughout, including painted references to Sweden and Chicago, suggesting international industrial or commercial shipment use. One interior panel retains the original printed instruction sheet illustrating the crate's collapsing and assembly process, detailing the patented reusable container system developed by Eskilstuna Ironworks. The design allowed the crate to be broken down flat for return shipping and storage efficiency, reflecting mid-century European industrial transport practices focused on durability and reusability. The substantial joinery, visible fasteners, and reinforced rails give the crate a rugged, purpose-built appearance shaped entirely by function and repeated freight use.

Eskilstuna Jernmanufaktur Aktiebolag of Eskilstuna, Sweden produced industrial metal and transport-related goods during the twentieth century, with the Bandox system representing one of the company's reusable export and shipping container designs intended for commercial and industrial distribution networks.

Shows moderate to heavy wear consistent with age and freight use including scratches, abrasions, staining, surface losses, scattered splits, and wear to edges and corners throughout. Stenciled markings and labels show fading and partial loss. Interior instruction sheet remains present with discoloration, creasing, and wear from age. Crate retains its collapsible construction and overall structural integrity despite expected wear from industrial handling and storage.

PARCEL SHIPPING

We ship smaller objects with UPS and USPS. All shipments are fully insured and adhere to carrier packing guidelines. Shipping costs for smaller items being shipped within the continental United States are free up to $100. If a parcel shipment exceeds $100, the remaining costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please reach out to us for a free shipping quote on items you are interested in purchasing and note that international shipments may incur additional shipping cost.

FREIGHT SHIPPING

Free freight shipping is available for most large items. Conditions and restrictions apply: Free delivery is only offered on orders in the continental US. Shipping for freight items is free up to $500. If freight shipping costs exceed $500, the buyer is responsible for covering any amount over $500. Free freight delivery services include: delivery to a freight terminal, curbside delivery, and door-to-door delivery with a private carrier. White glove delivery services are *not included* in our free freight shipping policy, but may be available for a fee. Buyers may be subject to fees in cases where a delivery location is remote/difficult to access, or where a shipment requires special handling. Please contact us for shipping quotes and available services prior to purchasing. 

All shipments are considered FOB (Free on Board), meaning the buyer assumes all responsibility for the shipment the moment it leaves our loading dock. Any risk of loss or damage after this point is assumed solely by the buyer. In the event of damage or loss, we are happy to assist buyers in the claims process if we helped coordinate the shipment. However, we are not responsible for any damages, loss, or deductibles. 

Delivery for freight items averages between 2-4 weeks. Longer delivery times are to be expected in cases where a delivery location is remote or when an order contains especially large or fragile items.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

All shipments going outside of the continental United States will require consultation prior to shipping. Items will be crated and shipped by boat or by air at the buyer's expense. Please contact us regarding any questions you may have.
