1940s - 1950s; Western Cartridge Company - East Alton, IL

Salesman's presentation kit containing eleven inert dummy, cutaway, and demonstration ammunition samples arranged in a fitted purple velvet interior. The selection includes Super-X and Xpert shotgun shells, a rifled slug load, a cutaway shell exposing its sealed gas chamber, .30-06 Springfield and .30-30 Winchester Silvertip cartridges, two fired and recovered .30-30 Silvertip bullets, a Super-Match .38 Special mid-range cartridge, a Super-X .22 Long Rifle hollow-point cartridge, and an Xpert .22 Long Rifle cartridge. A printed insert mounted inside the lid identifies each numbered component beneath the Western trademark and "World Champion Ammunition" slogan. The compact black textured case closes with a metal latch and includes a hinged velvet-covered protective pad.

Founded by Franklin W. Olin in East Alton in 1898, Western Cartridge Company became a leading American ammunition manufacturer and acquired Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1931 before becoming part of Olin Industries.

The display case and samples are in very good condition with expected wear from handling and use. The exterior has several long scratches across the front and top, with scuffing and areas of added black pigment on the back and underside. The hinges and latch operate properly. Interior velvet remains in good condition, showing impressions and localized wear where the cartridges rest. The printed lid insert is clear and legible, and all listed components appear to be present. The dummy cartridges and recovered bullets exhibit light handling wear.
